I guess it's about time for me to write on this blog again. Lots of things have been going on lately, so there is plenty to write about. We are in our 6th week in Louisiana. Cody is doing two rotations at LSU Med Center. He has completed his first one in Internal Medicine and is now in GI. I was fortunate enough to have my boss let me work remotely for 10 weeks so I could be in LA as well, so everything has worked out great. We are really enjoying our time being home and catching up on all our visiting with our family and friends. We fly back to NYC on November 26th, so we'll be able to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with our family.
I would have to say that the biggest adjustment to being at home is not having our own space. It can be difficult for two 26 year olds who are married and used to being on their own to adapt to living with the parents again :)...but there is something special about going to bed in my own childhood bedroom knowing my parents are asleep just a few rooms away. I will say that being back home brings back so many wonderful memories of my family in that house. The familiar smell of my Dad's chapstick as he kisses my cheek, or curling up on the couch with Mom watching things like HGTV, Golden Girls, and Lifetime movies, and the endless laughter while joking with my baby brother. Those are the things that make Louisiana home to me. We will be heading back to New York before you know it, but no matter where we end up, we always have a place to call home and come back to.
Enough of this sappy stuff...on a good note, we had a cool front and some much needed rain come in today, and I am looking forward to another weekend in Louisiana!
Pics to come soon...
