Cody's GSP Graduation

Today we went to Cody's Global Scholarship Program graduation ceremony, and he received a higher learning degree from Northumbria University (which is an equivalent of a Master's degree in the States). I guess it's just one of the perks of doing his first year of medical school in the UK. I think it's pretty cool for him to be able to say that he actually has a degree that came from England, and just one more certificate to frame and put on the wall in his future doctor's office! I am so proud of him!

I came into the kitchen, and this is what I saw on my wall, so I screamed! I usually like little creatures, but something about his little tail twitching as he climbed up my wall just totally freaked me out. I got my broom thinking that I could knock him off the wall and out the door in one motion. Didn't work out exactly as I had planned. When I got my broom close to him, he jumped off the wall and ran under the stove as Macy chased after him. I tried to get him out from under the stove, but it's hopeless. He has made it his permanent home and has no intention of moving. Thankfully Cody will be home soon, and hopefully will be able to get him out of the house!

Bittersweet Goodbyes

Macy and I took Mom and Blake to the airport this morning for their flight home. I have to admit that I am extremely sad. I wish that they could stay here with me all the time, but I know that my Dad probably misses them terribly. We only have 9 weeks from tomorrow left on this island. I think that I am ready to pack up my bikini and sunglasses and put an American flag on my car :)..It is so weird how we have lived in 2 different countries for almost 2 years. I am ready to be back on US soil, and soak up all of the great things that come along with being an American! Most of all, I am ready to be closer to my family. Even though New York is still a plane ride away, it is at least in the States and not as far away as we are now. I am grateful for all of the experiences that I have had in my short life and at the same time, long life. I feel that it has made me a stronger person, and really made me appreciate the simple things in life that God has blessed me with. I intend to enjoy my last 2 months in Grenada, but am looking forward to what the future holds for us!

Mom and Blake will be here in about 2 hours, and I absolutely can not wait! They will be here for a whole week, and I am looking forward to much needed time with my family. My Dad decided to stay home since he's not really into the sun and beach, but at least my Mom and brother are coming. These will be the longest 2 hours ever!!!

Golfing Day

This weekend was the first weekend in a while that Cody did not have to study for exams, so we took advantage of it and went golfing. Cody is actually the golfer..I just tag along and occassionally pick up a ball or club to look like I'm doing something useful. I was the scorekeeper, even though I may have lost the scorecard on the course..but luckily retraced my steps and found it! There are no golf carts in Grenada, so you have to get around the old fashioned way..by foot! I must say that this is excellent exercise, but unfortunately I wore the wrong shoes and came home with two huge blisters. The grass was basically dead from the drought, and the ground was cracking and hard as concrete. I did get to meet a family of goats that were lounging around the course, and one of them had a brand new baby! We had a great time and got lots of sun and exercise!

I took Macy to Lance Aux Epine Beach today to play. I uploaded this picture from google since I didn't bring my camera on our little outing. This is one of the more quieter beaches. There is hardly any people on this beach..especially on a Tuesday. Macy gets so excited when she knows that she's going to the beach. We left Cody at home studying for mid-terms, so it was just the two of us. It was nice to be able to let her off leash to run around and play in the water. We had a blast, and I am loving the fact that we are able to go to the beach anytime that we want!

Is It Already the Middle of February?!

These are pictures of some sailboats on Grand Anse beach that I took the other day. Well, not much has been going on lately, but I noticed that I hadn't posted a blog in a week. Life is just going by like usual. We are still liking our new place..actually we love it! I finally finished the Twilight series last week, and absolutely loved all of the books..Now just waiting for Eclipse to come out in theatres! I'm trying to get back into running and going to the gym regularly..it helps to have Ashley and Erica to keep me motivated. I have gotten so used to sleeping in, and around here if you want to run, then you have to get up super early so it's not too hot..which is hard for me to do because I love my sleep! I have a hair appointment on Thursday to get my blonde hair back!!! I can't wait..It's been 9 months since I went back to my natural, which was long enough for me. I'll post pictures of the new look (or my old look, since most of my pictures have me with blonde hair). Cody has his first round of mid-terms the last week of February, which is next week! Macy is just being her same ole fun-loving self, and she definitly keeps me sane! Mom and Blake are coming to visit in 2 weeks from tomorrow, and I can't wait..We are going to have a blast! Dad may end up coming with them..originally he was not too enthused at the idea of the beach and the sun, but I think he's realizing that he might miss out on lots of fun! Who knows what he'll decide. We have about 2 1/2 months left on this island, which is so hard to believe..it really feels like we just got here! I am trying to get all of my volunteer hours and things in order to redo my resume. I will be a career woman in New York in just a few months..hard to believe! So much is changing around us, and it absolutely blows my mind sometimes :)
